Whiplash is an injury to the cervical spine or the neck segment of the spine. It primarily affects the soft tissue of the region, and doesn’t cause any damage to the bone. If you experience whiplash, you will feel intense pain in the neck region along with prolonged stiffness. At Mount Royal Village Family Chiropractic, we provide extensive treatment for whiplash strain and will make sure you work towards being able to move your head around comfortably.
Where Does the Injury Occur?
The neck is a complex part of the anatomy with vertebrae, discs of cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and muscle. When you experience whiplash, the tendons and ligaments that support the spinal cord and individual vertebrae are damaged or strained. This means they cannot provide enough assistance to the bones and cartilage to carry out a full range of movement. Whiplash compromises the functionality of your neck and causes pain.
